The Broken Script is a mod that has numerous entities haunting it in addition to
glitches in both the visual and technical aspects. The experiences of each
player will be distinct, as if this mod has its own will. In other words, each
player will have a different experience.
The entities that are present vary in their levels of hostility and
passiveness, ultimately corrupting the world. If the
safemode is not utilized, players may be “banned”
from their world.
Since communications with the entities within the mod seem to be at best limited
and at worst nonexistent, most of what is known about The Broken Script comes
from inferred information. Except for Null, who seems open to
talking, but only to a certain point.
The client is immediately noticeably off after the Broken Script is installed
and Minecraft is launched. The music that plays on the title screen is eerie,
and the game cannot be quit through the menu. Consequently, the default
Minecraft splash texts are at best ominous and at worst threatening.
Information about said corruption of the Minecraft client can be found in
Lore. Further investigation indicates that the source of corruption
appears to be hidden within another mod called Spectrum_11.
Spectrum_11, which was initially discovered in the Broken Script files, appears
to be absent from version 1.9.3.
Wendigo is kind enough to share this extra mod on his official Discord server,
but players should be aware that it is invasive. Players are advised to refrain
from opening a world that contains spectrum_11 in their client, as recommended
by this wiki community. Do not play with spectrum_11 unless you are prepared
for the consequences of your actions.
The Broken Script, a horror mod for Minecraft, has generated a lot of
controversy. Before it was taken down from CurseForge, The Broken Script was
already well-known in the modding community for its unique take on horror. Its
popularity skyrocketed after its removal from CurseForge. Some individuals who
were misinformed decided to report The Broken Script as malware and have the mod
removed from CurseForge. Following that, it was moved to Modrinth.
Version 1.8 did not have what Version 1.9 had. The void's control seemed more
severe in version 1.9 and the most severe influence the mod had been the ability
to send a command to turn off the player's PC. The command itself is simply the
equivalent of pressing the power button; however, this action scared a large
majority of individuals who wished to play the Broken Script. This fear turned
into unwarranted hostility, harassment, and death threats sent towards
wendigodrip. Following this, the mod was removed from the public. Upon further
investigation, it was discovered that the 1.9 version of the Broken Script is
capable of only three functions: creating a single.txt file on the player's
desktop, turning off the PC, and displaying Lightweight Java Game Library
(LWJGL) pop-ups for err.sleep. The video “corruption”
that resulted from the PC shutdown for those recording was not intentional;
rather, it was the result of the recording program's inability to process and
save the footage. Following this, a
community patch was made.
The mod is currently being actively published on Modrinth. All the versions that
have been released on Modrinth are not considered ‘unsafe’ for computers and can
be used by the player without any issues. You can find older ‘unsafe’ versions
on the official Discord. Further development does no longer incorporate invasive
elements, and those who wish to irritate their nerves and their operating system
may install the previous builds. As of recent wedigodrip has left the
development team due to burnout. He has confirmed that other mods of his will
still be developed he is simply taking a break. as of now development is being
lead by RedstoneWizard08.
