While the mod works on modern versions of Minecraft, it actively attempts to forcefully downgrade the game to older versions, which seems to mix them together and lead to strange effects like certain mobs missing, or Lush Caves in seemingly old caves.
Some mobs from more modern versions are not present in the game, and attempts to spawn them by any means are simply not successful.
This is enabled by default, but can be disabled in the Common Config.
Attack cooldown is disabled, meaning the player will attack at full strength no matter how fast they attack. Essentially, this reverts the combat system back to its pre-1.9 state.
This is enabled by default, but can be disabled in the Common Config.
All Deepslate in a 9x9x9 cube around the player is replaced with Stone with a 1% chance each tick if the player's y-level is less than 10.
Mining Deepslate at a sufficiently large range will cause Cobbled Deepslate to drop as normal, allowing it to be collected despite the replacement.
This is enabled by default, but can be disabled in the Common Config.
The mod brings back old cave generation before the Caves and Cliffs update.
This makes the caves more enclosed rather than vast and spacious like in the new versions, bringing back the claustrophobic feeling of the older versions.
All textures have been reverted to their pre-1.14 versions. All block and item textures that existed later have been artificially aged to match.
Raw Iron and Raw Gold textures are 2D duplicates of their block textures. Endermen and Ender Dragon have green eyes.
Sounds that were replaced in any versions of the game have been returned to their old form to match older versions.
When a villager spawns, there is a 50% chance that they will be named TESTIFICATE, which is a reference to how they were all named in the version they were added in - Beta 1.9 Pre-release 1.
When the camera height is below -50, in the immediate vicinity of the bedrock, a thick black fog will surround the player.

The mod makes various more subtle changes to Minecraft, enabling some mechanics that are normally absent singleplayer, or interfering with others in some way.
Bedrock is now breakable, and can be broken after 6 seconds of mining, regardless of the tool used.
This has huge implications for the lore and gameplay, as it gives the player access to the Void and allows them to enter Day B.
/deop, the command used to revoke operator status from a player, is accessible to the player. Eerily enough, Integrity is available as a valid selection, and is even possible to deop.

There are GameProfiles for two entities: Null and Integrity.
| Name | UUID |
|---|---|
| Null | 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 |
| Integrity | 01001001-0100-1110-0101-010001000101 |
Fittingly, Null's UUID is all zeros, while Integrity's UUID translates from binary to INTE.
A message indicating that the player has joined the game will be sent in chat every time they join, even in a newly created world, hinting from the start that they are not alone.
The Minecraft language file for English (US) has been changed, causing various usual game elements to now have completely different text.
On the world creation screen, Survival mode will instead be named Go away, with its tooltip saying This place is not for you.
Whenever a sheep dies, the subtitles will instead say 303 dies.
In Minecraft window's title bar Singleplayer will be replaced with [SINGLEPLAYER.force_activate].
In Music & Sounds options Master Volume slider will instead be titled ERROR.you_cant.

Minecraft's Main Menu is modified. The modern panorama has been replaced by the classic version, which appears to be severely glitching.
The Quit Game button has been disabled, appearing darkened. This has lore significance, as it is known that all entities also cannot leave the game, and Integrity can manipulate the game's mechanics, including doing just that.
Optionally, Main Menu appearance can be changed in the Client Config, with the options to either use fanart background, or completely disable changes.

The game cannot be paused when the player is threatened by some particularly fearsome entities, making it impossible to take even a short break during an encounter.
Entities that prevent pausing:
Additionally, Circuit - Chase disables Save and Quit To Title button.
The mod removes the ability to switch the game to "Peaceful" difficulty, setting it back to "Easy" on the next tick after the game is unpaused, However, it will still despawn hostile mobs.
After Null joins the game, player list will become available, always displaying him and the player online.

Vanilla splashes have been replaced with 38 unique splashes.
At the start of the game, the moon looks and behaves as normal. However, as part of a related random event, the moon may become Corrupted.
The Corruption is visually represented by different moon textures for each stage, depicting it being slowly consumed by the Void more and more with each passing night.
Regardless of Corruption, during moon phases 5-8 (New Moon - Waxing Gibbous) some hostile night mobs cannot spawn, making the nights quieter in this regard, but ultimately just giving more space for entities to spawn. There is also a 1 in 4 chance of receiving 'err.themoon' when trying to sleep during these phases.

The sun is now black. This does not seem to have any effect on gameplay.

The Broken Script adds a variety of its own mechanics and additions, ranging from a custom entity spawning system to ARG elements that go beyond Minecraft.
When Disc 11 or Disc 13 is inserted into the jukebox, null particles briefly appear around the block.
These black particles are presumably related to or even are the direct influence of the Void, based on what Disc 13 did to DyeXD412.

The mod adds a variety of entities to the game, and while some of them can spawn naturally through Minecraft's mob spawning, other entities require Entity Spawner to spawn first before they have a chance to be picked, which acts as a limiter on rarer entities.
In most versions in The Broken Script entities are extremely common in the Mushroom Fields biome, potentially resulting in TPS lag. This is likely due to the biome allowing only a small selection of mob spawns, with mooshrooms being a notable exception.
This is a 3×3 horizontal ring of gold blocks, with mossy cobblestone at the center and a block of netherrack placed on top.
Igniting the netherrack seems to "activate" the structure, playing curvedspawn.ogg.
Unfortunately, although Herobrine is present in the mod, this structure serves no purpose for summoning him or any other function.

Joining a world with a specific nickname will result in the player getting kicked with a message accompanying the kick.
| Name | Kick Message |
|---|---|
| null | Player is already playing on this server. |
| xXram2dieXx | Player is already playing on this server. |
| DyeXD412 | Player is already playing on this server. |
| Integrity | I am watching you. |
| Modrome | I am right behind you < o> |
Various reasons, including but not limited to certain active entities or events, will cause a (Lightweight Java Game Library) LWJGL Alert pop-up to appear on top of the Minecraft window on the player's computer, displaying various error texts.
Every time the player sends a message in chat, there is a 1% chance that an LWJGL Alert will appear saying Here I am.
When the player closes the game, an LWJGL Alert will appear saying Err.< o>
All crashes seem to be accompanied by an LWJGL Alert saying UNHANDLED EXCEPTION -1
err.sleep is a generalised term that describes the player's inability to sleep due to an active anomaly or encounter. It is characterised by instant interruption of sleep due to minuscule damage, followed by an LWJGL Alert.
Types of err.sleep:

Certain entity encounters cause Minecraft's chat engine to fail, preventing chat messages from being sent and causing the following error messages to appear above the player's hotbar:
IMPORT minecraft.chatengine
Unexpected_error.returnedvalue=-1
What is understood about this error is that it has occurred on the server before, as the previous players left a sign in the Clan_Build, commenting then, "Why chat won't work?".
The following entities are able to cause this error:

Every time a player joins a multiplayer world, a message will be sent in the chat from Integrity warning them about bugs. So kind of him.
< Integrity > It seems that you are playing in a multiplayer world. You will encounter lots of bugs.
This warning can be disabled in the mod config.
Every time the player logs into any world, a file called serverproperties.txt will be written on their computer desktop, with the following text inside:
K̸̜̦̀͋̋̑́̌Ĩ̷̘͎̑̽̅̕L̷̛͉̉̊́̌̒ͅL̴̫̩̓̈̍̕͝ ̶̡̣͕̠̮̑̊͑̍̈́H̸̢̻͉̗͈̃̾̆̂̈́Ì̵̯̕M̵͙̞͌̐̊͆
When one of a the mobs in a certain list appears, there is a 1% chance that it will be get a unique name.
With a 70% chance, this name will be 01001000 01100101 00100000 01110111 01101001 01101100 01101100 00100000 01100110 01101001 01101110 01100100 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101, which translates from binary to He will find you.
With a 30% chance, this name will be 01001000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111, which translates from binary to Hello.
The mod seemingly alters the generation of worlds that are generated using the Amplified option. Instead of different biome blocks and terrain, it has been replaced with stone and other minerals. Trees and dirt are scarce, and seldom do they generate.
When the device's date is 1st April, all entity on the main title screen will have 'uwu' faces, and certain in-game entities with 'uwu' textures will also have an 'uwu' face. At other times, there is a very small chance for this kind of easter egg to appear.
